What is it?

Liposuction is a technique in plastic surgery that allows the removal of localizes fat. In the process of conventional Liposuction we introduce, through a small orifice, a cannula of about 3 mm of diameter in the determined region of the body, and, through back and forward movements, we remove the fat.

Laserlipolisis is less traumatic:
Nowadays, we have a big advance in the Liposuction technique. It’s the laserliposis that is the Liposuction with the help of the laser. The cannula, of only 1 mm, has a laser at the tip, which, when reaching the fat cell, bursts it and makes the aspiration of the liquefied fat much easier. It is a less traumatic process, allowing less bruises, less swelling, less bleeding and less pain after the surgery. There is a bigger homogeneity in the result.

Liposculpting:
The liposculpting is the removal of fat from some areas that are more prominent for the reinjection in regions with depression or lack of volume. In this case, it is necessary to perform the conventional Liposuction, because we need the integral fat to inject in the areas to be filled.

*It is important to remember that we use the Liposuction only in localized fat in regions where there is no flaccidity. Besides: the Liposuction does not treat cellulite.
Good news: the fat does not come back. The amount of fat cells decreases and the others do not multiply. If we have an X volume and leave Y after the Liposuction, this Y volume will be maintained. Even if the patient gains weight, he/she will keep the same contour left by the Liposuction.

What you need to know:

1) Technique: We use the humid Liposuction, where we inject, before doing the Liposuction, a solution with adrenaline to dicers the bleeding.

2) Anesthesia: It may be local, peridural or even general, depending on the number of areas to be worked on.

3) Surgery time: Approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on the volume to be aspired.

4) Risks: The chances of complications are small, but a small bleeding and bruises may occur. The areas of localized fat do not have significant blood vessels. However, when we perform an extensive Liposuction, we program an auto-transfusion.
Obs.: this concern with blood loss is much smaller in the laserliposilis.

Before the surgery:

1) Complementary exams to be specified.

2) Picture of the region(s) to be worked on. This is important for evaluation, surgical programming and documentation.

3) Get a girdle and take it to the clinic the day of the surgery.

4) Go to the clinic in the day and time scheduled, preferably accompanied by someone.

5) Don’t take jewelry and other valuables to the clinic.

6) Don’t polish your nails.

7) Any occurrence such as diseases (flu, fever, infection) or other motives that may cause the cancellation of the surgery, advise your doctor in advance.

8) The use of Arnica may be done to avoid bruising. This use must start one week to ten days before the surgery. Have an evaluation with the doctor for orientation on the use of medicines before the surgery important for the healing and balance of the organism, aiming a better recovery.

Care:

1) Fasting of at least 6 hours before the surgery.

2) Medication for hypertension and other diseases must be informed for later orientation.

3) Don’t take medicine that contains acetyl salicylic acid (ex. AAS, Rhonal, Bufferin, Aspirin), one week before and one week after the surgery because it increases the bleeding.

4) Stop all appetite suppressing drugs 15 days before the surgery.

5) Don’t smoke15 days before and 15 days after the surgery. Why not decide to stop smoking?

Aftec surgery:

1) Pain: It’s not significant, but the sensibility is individual.

2) Hospital Time : Generally, 24 to 48 hours or office procedure.

3) First Dressings: Dressing with a bandage soon after the surgery, exchanged for a girdle in the first day.

4) Bathing: Shower, 24 hours after leaving the hospital. Dry the micropore with a hair dryer.

5) Food: Normal.

6) Physical Efforts: Allowed, including driving.

7) Stitch removal: After 7 days.

8) Girdle: Constant use, day and night, for 30 days.

9) Sun: Expose the abdomen to the sun only after one month.

10) Massage: The mild lymphatic drainage massage is recommended during 2 months, for it helps in the recovery, decreasing the swelling and bruises.

11) Sensibility: Normally, there is a little the sensibility in the region. The recovery is gradual.

Will this disappear?

Every surgery involves a certain recovery period. Be patient because your organism will take care of some little problems that invariably will call attention of some people who will ask: "Will this disappear?" Always share with us any type of concern. We will give the necessary explanations for your tranquility.

Final Result:

At the beginning, very little is seen of the result of the surgery due to the swelling. However, as the region starts getting the normal consistency, the difference becomes obvious. The final result normally appears around the second month after the surgery.
We consider the definite result after the fourth month, when new pictures are taken for the comparison of the appearance before and after the surgery. This reevaluation may indicate the need for some retouching, procedure considered common in plastic surgery, mainly if the volume to be removed was high. If there is this need, the retouching must be done after the 6th month and at the most 10 months after the surgery.
