What is it?
The facial endoscopic lifting is the procedure that
aims the facial rejuvenating through the repositioning
of the flaccid tissues We use small incisions of 0.5
to 3 cm on the scalp and, through the utilization of
the endoscope, we may work the deep structures, sparing
the face from scars. It can normally associated to the
laser peeling of the lower eyelid, lips or even the
whole face. We can also use procedures such as fat or
product injections. Indication: it may be isolated in
young patients, or associated to a Conventional Lifting.
What you need to know:
1) Scar
The small scars are placed in the scalp.
2) Anesthesia
Normally, local with sedation.
3) Surgery time
One hour and a half.
4) Hair dyeing
Hair dyeing must be done one week before the surgery
and only redone 3 weeks after the surgery.
5) Hair cut
The hair is not cut during the surgery.
Before the surgery:
1)
Complementary exams specified by the doctor.
2) A picture of the region
is important for the evaluation, surgical planning and
documentation.
3) Go to the clinic in
the day and time scheduled, preferably accompanied by
someone.
4) Don’t take jewelry
and other valuables to the clinic.
5) Don’t polish your
nails.
6) Any occurrence such
as diseases (flu, fever, infection) or other reasons
that may cause the cancellation of the surgery, must
be told to the doctor in advance.
Care:
1)
Fasting of at least 6 hours before the surgery.
2) Medication for hypertension
and other diseases must be informed to the doctor for
later orientation.
3) Don’t take medicine
that contains acetyl salicylic acid (ex. AAS, Rhonal,
Bufferin, Aspirin), one week before and one week after
the surgery because it increases the bleeding.
4) Appetite suppressing
drugs must be stopped 15 days before the surgery.
5) Don’t smoke15
days before and 15 days after the surgery. Why not decide
to stop smoking?
After the surgery:
1) Pain:
The surgery is generally painless. It rarely presents
mild pain that may be eliminated with common painkillers.
2) Hospital time: Office
procedure or 24 hours in the hospital.
3) First Dressings: You
will leave the surgery room with a dressing in the
shape of a helmet. After removing it, the hair is
washed normally (take shampoo and conditioning to
the clinic) and may be dried with a hair dryer slightly
heated and combed delicately. The eyes do not get
shut, and cold patches are recommended for 48 hours.
4) Bathing: The day after.
5) Food: Liquid and pasty
in the first days
6) Edema (swelling):
The swelling is progressive during the first 48 hours;
after this it becomes stable and then starts the regression
process, faster on the eyelids and slower in the rest
of the face. The muscle treatment results in a feeling
of "stuck face". This may be worsened by
the edema and tends to improve, mainly after the beginning
of the massages.
7) Bruises: Normally,
very little. You can place cold patches or take Arnica.
8) Itching (itching, burning,
insensibility or hypersensibility): May occur
eventually, but this is temporary and tends to disappear
within about 3 months.
9) Physical Efforts:
Wait 15 days.
10) Stitch removal: The
scalp stitches are removed after 7 days.
11) Dressings after leaving
the hospital: Only normal hygiene on the scars.
12) Sun: Not allowed
for at least one month. We recommend the use of sun
block (factor 30 or more), applied every 3 hours,
rigorously for 2 months.
13) Massage: Facial and
lymphatic massage during the first 2 months accelerates
the regression of the edema.
14) Make-up and hair dying:
The make-up is allowed after the first week and the
hair dying after 3 weeks.
15) Depression: A short
period of emotional depression may occur in the first
days, due to the initial aspect, and generally comes
from the anxiety to reach the final result as soon
as possible. Be patient. Remember that no result of
aesthetic surgery on the face must be evaluated before
3 months after the surgery. .
Will this disappear?
During the first four
months after the surgery, the region will be a little
swollen. There are problems that invariably will call
attention of some people who will ask: "Will this
disappear?" Always share with us any type of concern.
We will give the necessary explanations for your tranquility.
Final Result:
During the first
four months after the surgery, the region will be a
little swollen. There will be a gradual accommodation
of the organic tissues.
The scar will be redder and harder at the beginning,
but will pale and thin with time. This process is slow
and may take several months. However, it’s impossible
to predict the result exactly, since the process does
not depend only on the technique used and of the care
taken after the surgery, but also on individual factors.
After the first four months, a new evaluation is done
and a new picture taken to compare the area before and
after the surgery. If this evaluation indicates the
need of a retouching, procedure considered common in
plastic surgery, it will be done after the 6th month
and at the most 10 months after the surgery.
